Hi all.

I've succeed to hold altitude with SRF02(any module SRF can be interfaced) i2c sonar module.

I made initial library for SRF series module, very similar with Maxbotix sonar library included in ArduPirates.

I'd like to contribute this code, if any member in Arducopter or Ardupirates project see this article,

please invite me to subversion system.

I didn't recorded video, but in several days, I'll post altitude holding video.

  • Hello,

We have evaluated the SRF02 when it was first available for sale. We found this sensor to have poor performance in comparison to our MaxSonar sensors. We found it was less sensitive , especially 0 to 5ft, and lacked repeatability to moving targets. We have posts the results on our website at http://www.maxbotix.com/Performance_Data.html. Others have published independent magazine articles proving the same results.

We understand our opinion may be bias but we do not feel this is a good sensor for the application. We also understand that we have not tested a latest version of the SRF02 and if they have changed since the initial release, we would like to know about it. If anyone has any questions, please let me know.

    Best regards,

    Scott Wielenberg
