Hi All,

I came across this site as part of a passing thought about making a UAV, having done my research i have now made a purchase and have stuff ready to build my first plane for this project (I forgot to mention i have never flown an RC plane before so i will be using this to learn with over christmas before i put Ardu in it.) I would just like to know what you think of the parts i have and what recommendations you would have about upgrades and modifications etc..... I'd love to hear from you as I am completely new to this!!

anyway my parts list is as follows:

Multiplex EasyStar II with Ailerons
Hacker A20-8XL EVO brushless motor

Hacker X-30-pro speed controller

Thunder RC G6 Pro Lite 2100mAh 3 Cell LiPo battery

Spektrum DX6i 6Ch receiver

Please do let me know if i am missing any of the key things! and i will set up a blog to document my progress! I await your feedback! .....

Thanks

Ross

Those are good choices! If you could upgrade the radio to 8 channels it would be even better, but if not that will work fine.

Thanks for you response what would the extra two channels be used for if i did?

No particular use on that EasyStar, but if/when you upgrade to more sophisticated UAVs, you'll find use for them. For example, channel 7 on ArduCopter allows you to set waypoints on the fly. Others are used for camera pan/tilt or shutter triggers.

Just an insurance policy for future expansion.
