L/D Measurements with APM

Hi,

First post from a complete noob here.I need some advice from you guys regarding an experiment Im planing to conduct.

I need to measure aerodynamic performance of Bixler or some similar aircraft.
The data Im after are, Airspeed, Motor Current, MOTOR VOLTAGE, altitude, attitude info etc, and first 3 are the most important for me.

Im planing to use the following as the main board and sensors.

In general, have you guys used APM to measure L/D data ? any pointers to be careful of and how sucessful it was?

Few specific conserns I would like to verify as well
1. Im planing to use "FLY BY WIRE_A" mode for automatic gliding test. Can I use this mode to maintain the given pitch and airspeed when the motor is cutoff ?

2. Without GPS is it possible to do waypoint navigation with IMU alone ? (no need to be accurate, even 10-20 meter error is ok)

3. Is it possible to turn on and off onboard flight log with the mission plan ? say for example I go to waypoint 1 and turn on log and go to way point 2 turn off logs etc.

4. I have read that the airspeed hold almost doesnt work. Any similar experiance or does it work as its supposed to be ?

5. Is it possible to feed aux analog and or digital inputs to the above board without code change ? Ex: Im planing to measure motor terminal voltage.

Thanks so much in advance.
Cheers
