Just curious if anyone has retrofitted their ArduCopter with a better set of landing gear.
Any recommendations on specific gear sets? I'm looking for more ground clearance primarily, but getting that with some pizazz would also be nice.

I've thought about it a few times, but the design doesn't really lend itself to modular landing gear.
Lopping the legs off and clamping something new to the arms is about all I've come up with so far.

Permalink Reply by Bill Sanford on February 12, 2011 at 9:24am A very low tech and cheap solution that holds up well and costs next to nothing is PVC gutter downspout.
Get yourself a 10' length of downspout for maybe $10 and you can make enough for yourself and everyone who has ever made a quadcopter! Just cut off a 1/2" piece and drill a hole as shown in the picture. I used a chop saw to cut my pieces from a scrap piece of downspout I had just lying around. See photos.

No doubt...that's a great idea. Seems like a perfect material.
Fortunately, I haven't snapped any of the stock legs off yet, but this is top of the list.

I am currently using this style and is easy on off - They should have future camera mounts that work with it as well.
