Hi Guys,
I'm new here.
Flew 6 successful missions with a little ST Models Discovery trainer in the past two days until my last one went terribly wrong and I lost my plane. Please help.
The plane followed the set commands as planned up until the last waypoint before returning home. At the last waypoint I lost GPS signal and shortly after lost telemetry.
My question is, where would the plane go once GPS is lost? I have no Idea where to look.
Some stats of the plane and the mission are.
ST models Dicovert trainer
APM 1
Mediatec GPS
Compass
5A external BEC
3600mah 11.1 V lipo
900mhz Xbee telemetry
The mission was planned close to the shoreline with heavy fog being present and the plane having to fly in the fog belt. I never had the plane in sight during the mission. I have done this successfully previously.
Mission length was 5,3KM long which should not pose a problem for the battery.
Please look at the attached log file to try and figure out where my plane went after losing GPS fix.
I am suspecting the GPS went haywire because of water accumulating on it while flying in the fog belt.

You may have just learnt a very hard lesson about flying in weather.
What were your fail safe settings?

thanks for your reply.
I promise, lesson learned!
I'm sure my fail safe settings would have changed nothing, as the GPS signal was lost the plane could not have known where it was or going. They where set to RTL. Home was only about 300m away from where we lost signal.
The question here is, where would it have gone after losing GPS.
BTW we are in the Namib desert, we could hurt no one while flying in the fog.
Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.88 members
