Low altitude photo mission with pause before photo

Hello,I'm using my APM equipped DJI F450 to do some low altitude photo missions. I will be flying at 20m or so above ground. I have used the flight planner to create missions (survey grid) and have no problem with that. The question is, is it possible to have the quad pause for a second at each photo point before triggering the camera? I know this can be done by creating waypoints with WP delay but I don't see it as practical when having over 100 photo points. Besides, I'm not sure what is the maximum number of WPs that the APM (2.5) can take.Thanks.

  • Thanks for the reply. So it seems the only way to do this is to manually create a WP for each photo point. No way to do it through the survey grid.
Now I know that while using the survey grid you can display the photo points. Is there anyway to export the coordinates of these points? The saved flight plan is just the WPs with a trigger distance for the CAM.
    • Found the solution. It is to set the Trigger Method to DO_DIGICAM_CONTROL in the Camera Config tab. This effectively creates a WP for each photo point followed by a DO_DICICAM_CONTROL command. However, this does not set a delay at the WP, although it was set to 1 sec in the Grid Options tab. It has to be added manually. So you end up with 2 commands per photo, as the delay is a column within the WP data row. Hopefully, the delay behavior will be corrected in future releases of the Mission Planner software.

  • The APM can only handle 127 waypoints/commands. I believe the only way is to use something like do_set_servo or digicam_control, plus a pause at each waypoint. So that's 3 items for each photo. This only leaves you with about 40 images. You need a Pixhawk.
