The primesense chip does look great. Too bad they don't sell chips through distributors.

ya also its just not worth it, the kinect is very very nice, but not just to rip apart, you pay mostly for the package and the software... which if hacked you'd be overwriting....you can get ir and cms cameras and small pan tilt for cheaper im pretty positive
