I have windows vista. I detected that the mission planner software install driver that doesn't the my operating system. It will be nice if the mission planner can detect the operating system and install the driver accordingly.  The drivers can be found inhttp://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm.

the ftdi drivers are downloaded as part of the windows driver update. MP has never installed ftdi drivers.

    • The mission planner install the apm drivers for sure and they define the communication between the apm and the mission planner, maybe those one are apply only to windows 7 and not he for others operating system. I read that a lot of people has problem that the drivers installed by MP are not recognize by the OS. It happen in windows xp, vista and sometimes in windows 8 not in windows 7.
