Please use the APM Planner for Mac http://ardupilot.com/downloads/?category=35

    • Perhaps I wasn't precise enough at the start of the video - I am using APM Planner (2.0) for Mac (OS 10.9.4) and it does not connect (baud rate 115200 since I don't have telemetry).  It's not a problem with the APM hardware because I can connect on a friend's Windows PC that has Planner.

I have seen other forum posts that indicate MP is incompatible for those running Mavericks on Mac but I haven't seen anyone post a workaround/solution.

I have contacted the APM support team and apparently none of them have the program installed on a Mac...?!  I noted I could install a parallel Windows OS and they agreed that may be the only way to use MP software on a Mac...  ugh.

Is this truly the only work around?  I thought purchasing a Android tablet would be the most versatile/mobile solution but even that doesn't seem to work... ugh.

APM Planner 2.0.14 should work just fine on OSX 10.9.4. It is compatible. Its working ok for me (i know not the most helpful statement)

If you run the System Information program can you see the APM appear in the Hardware USB section (you may need to hit Refresh, if you plug it in after starting the program)

        • I appreciate the response Bill! I checked the System Settings initially when I filed the ticket with 3DR and sent the attached image last week.  Alas, the Mac does recognize the APM (unless I'm mistaken?).  Is there something (in Console perhaps?) I can identify that would better diagnose healthy communication (or lack thereof)?

Its there shown as Arduino Mega 2560.

You can type ls /dev/cu.* in terminal to see the port name. Do it once unplugged and then. Plug it in. You should see the extra device. From the screen shot its usbmodem1a21

You can also type screen /dev/cu.usbmodem1a21 115200 in Terminal to connect directly to the port. You should see some data coming from the port if it is working. If you have 3.1.5 or before, you can enter console mode by pressing return 3-time within 30 seconds of powering up the APM.
