I have been told that some motors and ESCs are more suited to multirotor applications than others.  Heat dispersion and pulse patterns were vaguely mentioned.  Can anyone speak to this?

How were the motors and ESCs used on the 3D Robotics kits selected?

My purpose in asking...  I plan to build a multirotor with much larger motors than the ones I'm using now.

In other large model aircraft, I used Hacker and Omega motors with Castle Creations ESCs.  But I'm concerned they might be inappropriate in some way.

Any thoughts, experiences?
