I've decided on a Motor and ESC for my Quad ... However, I am worried about my Motor and ESC burning up in the event that the Motor stalls.
Internal Resistance of the Motor is 0.1 Ohms. I plan to run it with a 4S (~14V) ... If it stalls, that means the Motor will see 140 Amps ... Neither my Motor nor ESC is rated for this.
This is my first Quad, what do you guys do usually to protect against this? I'm guessing a fuse of some sort? Where in the circuit do you apply them? Between the ESC and Battery?
In the case of a stall (say where the prop hits the ground :-(), the ESC detects that the motor has stopped and handles it. In the case of my Turnigy Plush, it appears to try restarting but if the prop is jammed, it will eventually shut down.
So, it won't be trying to draw 140A from your battery. Fuses don't seem to be commonly used.
