Motor not spinning

Hi, thanks for clicking!

I scratch built an Arducopter based build, and I ran into a problem. Signal outputs 1-3 work just fine, but signal output 4 doesn't cause the motor to spin. I tried switching around the pins, and whichever ESC is connected to Output Pin 4 is the one that doesn't spin, even at max throttle. All others do.

ESC : Hobbysky 30A SimonK
Motor : Sunnysky Angel 2212 980Kv
UBEC : Hobbywing 3A @ 5V
Battery : Hiayin 5000 mAh 3S1P 35-45C

Only ESC signal wire attached to APM, Red and Black removed from header and tied using insulation tape.

  • Thanks Dave! I'm a newbie, so pretty nervous about messing around with the soldering on my APM. If I upload a picture of the soldering, can you tell me if there's a problem with it?
    • I would most likely see anything in the photo. I did some testing on the board to determine the poor solder joint. If you have no background in working with small components I would not atempt it. I have a work station that i used to fix the small SMD resistor.
      • I don't have a background, no. What do you recommend I do?

  • I had the same problem with a APM I got off ebay. I found that there was a bad solder job on one of the resistors leading to the output to the esc. I was able to fix up the poor soldier job and the motor started to spin. I am still using the board with no other issues.
