Naza+3axis gimbal system

Good day drone enthusiasts.

I have a Naza flight controller and a 3 axis brushless gimbal and would like to know how do I get them to work together.

I have connected the gimbal directly to the flight controller (f1&f2) but I'm probably lost anyway.

Please anyone that has done this setup before or has any insight I will be grateful.

I really need a step by step explanation from how to connect everything up to the calibration of the gimbal and how to assign specific buttons on the Taranis remote to maneuver the gimbal system

  • and how do I get to access the functions such as pitch, roll and yaw?

    • If your gimbal wants only 12v then a 4s which about 14.4v would be too much and you could damage it.

Im not a Taranis user but i would imagine it should be reasonably easy to assign one of your knobs to a particular channel. On the DX theres a screen called "monitor" and it shows all 8 channels. As you move knobs and sticks you can see the values of each channel. I would imagine something similar exist on the Taranis so you can verify your siwtch to channel mapping.

Having never hooked up a gimbal to a naza, just by reading the pin labels you should be able to hook up RX_PITCH to some free channel on your receiver and then map a switch to the same channel on your tx and it will work.

      • I have been informed that the gimbal should be hooked up directly to the flight controller and therefore has no link with the X8R receiver that connects with the Taranis remote so I'm really unsure of what to connect where.

Is there a way that I can keep the 4S lipo battery and find a way to send only 12V to the gimbal?

        • the gimbal is pretty durable so forget about the voltage for now. i got the gimbal to work but now how do I get the gimbal to turn with the drone as the drone is turning?

  • I also noticed that the gimbal voltage:12V (3S lipo battery) and I'm currently making use of a 4S battery would that need some extra work to adapt aswell

  • I'm using the GL-3X gimbal and it has a separate small board with pins on it labelled FC_ROLL, FC_PITCH, RX_ROLL, RX_PITCH. I connected the FC_ROLL to NAZA (F2) and FC_PITCH to NAZA (F1).

I would like to know how to connect these correctly as I think they are not and how do I get to assign knobs on the Taranis to menouvre the camera in the gimbal.

  • It helps if you also give the model of the gimbal. Most gimbals work on their own. Usually you just wire up a wire from the pitch pin to a channel on your rx and it will work. Thats how ive hooked up my Tarot on an APM powered multi.
