I am going to build my own quad. But i need alot of basic information, which i can not find.

 

I know there is alot of info, but i need really basic information. I do not know anything about which ampere on esc and which motor i should choose and so on.

 

Please, I need all information you can provide me with,

I have a question for the FAQ.

Where can we find a picture representing the PINs and there respective addresses/numbers for the ArdupilotMega and the IMU shield?

 

I have found the info in forums, schematics (when I could decipher it) but for a beginner it is almost impossible de decifer.

I have also found the info in some excel sheet but again...

 

I also have noticed in your FAQ some links for schematics, but again or they are incomplete or too complicate (Board, eagle files and schematics) to understand for a beginner)

 

What is needed is something for beginners that points the pin number on a representative picture so we can be able to communicate/program the pin in case of need.

 

Maybe the info is out somewhere if some one can point me to it I would appreciate it, though such figures can be very helpful in a FAQ.

GREAT question.   Bad answer.  I've looked and you found the only source I know of, the schematics.

 

I think you have give me a new project. It should be easy.  I'm thinking a image of the board with the descriptions of all the "Pins" color coded by group. Maybe including a paragraph description of some pins or groups of pins.  And where needed a description of the type of connector and a link to where to order them.

 

I've needed this more then once already.

most of the info can be found on the Ardupilot Mega board itself, or possibly deciphered by going through the source code, though like I have mentioned, for a beginner it is a hassle.

 

But your idea for the project is surely better ;)

Got a question for a newbie. How does one set up the transmitter to recognize the arducopter correctly? Specifically in my case with spektrum tx/rx

You can find this info in the Spektrum manual :)

Look for binding, all you need to do is to bind the tx/rx

Thanks, I can bind okay. What about the rest of the settings? Do you set it up as airplane or hopefully a heli, nowadays you don't know and it never hurts to ask. There are a bunch of additional settings associated with the transmitter, gyro, expo, etc. I was hoping to find someone that has already done this to take any frustration away when I go to do it.

Set it as heli, and you do not need to go through all of the settings at the begining keep the default.

Later on read the manual in deep and learn step by step.

Be aware of the swashplate mixing when using the heli setup for the quad.

Euh, that is too advanced for me!!

Heli programms have a lot of mixing included. depending on your swashplate 2-4 servos are mixed to control pitch (all servos up and down) , nick (fwd and backwd)  and roll (left and right). For the quad you need a program without any mixing. With the DX7 select acro, make a Data reset to clear the memory, make sure the flapsystem is deactivated (INH). For Flight modes you may use the flight mode switch (3 Position) on your left and assign it to CH7. Mix AUX2 to GEAR 100% and you have the mode on CH5.

Thats all. Test your setup  in the Servo Monitor. You should see only one servo moving when moving the sticks straight. When flipping the 3 pos switch you should see ch5&7 move 0 - center - 100.
