Hi, just received my set of 3dr radios this morning and have installed them.
I'm unable to get a connection between the two, both have green blinking led's so working ok.
When connected to the APM planner (v1.1.83 mav 0.9) I can see the settings on the usb side but none from the uav side.
Any suggestions?

Permalink Reply by Jake Stew on May 10, 2012 at 5:45pm Is it possible you changed the default telemetry speed on the APM?
I didn't see any reason to have the baud rate set lower than the air rate, so I had changed it. Of course I didn't change it on the APM, so it didn't work.
It seems kind of silly to have the bottleneck be on the PC interface. Not sure why they have it set like this as the default.
I would test the modems first on your computer to make sure they work. If they do work then it has to be a problem with your APM.

Anyone have any suggestions on where to go from here?
Permalink Reply by Jake Stew on May 11, 2012 at 8:06am Try different settings under remote baud. If that doesn't work then you have a bad APM board.
Permalink Reply by Derek Golding on May 11, 2012 at 12:18pm where can I access remote baud?
Bought this at Christmas from jdrones, have managed 2 short flights so far so will be very annoyed if I have a bad board!
Permalink Reply by Jake Stew on May 11, 2012 at 12:52pm On the picture you posted just above it's the second setting down on the remote side. This is the setting that controls the air module -> APM baud rate. If it's set wrong it will produce the error you describe.
It should be 57 by default, but it's possible the APM is communicating at another speed for some reason or you accidentally changed it somehow.
Since your radio modules are working you just aren't getting communication with the APM for some reason. Check your TX/RX wiring (try switching them) and changing the speed as I mentioned.
Some devices use a more correct TX->RX and RX->TX wiring scheme and some mislabel them for easier connection so that you connect RX->RX and TX->TX. So you just have to try each way until it works. If you're using the telemetry cable just make sure it's connected like in the pictures.

Thanks for all your help, I'll post some photos of it flying as soon as I have clear skies. Looking forward to this!
