When I try to connect using mission planner versions 1.1.51 & 1.1.52 I get a "No Heartbeat Packets Received" box after the time out.
I don't have this problem with 1.1.50, have I missed something.
I am using Windows Xp if that makes a difference.

Permalink Reply by Earl on March 23, 2012 at 5:01pm I am using APM2.0 purple board, MP 1.1.55, 2.4ghz Xbees in DM mode, one on APM2 in the router mode, the other 2 in end device mode at 38kb. One end device connected to loptop on com 4 in MP 1.1.55 at 38k and it works great ! The other Xbee in end device mode connected to my er9x TX displaying MavLink data at 38kb. Works great.
The only problem I was having was at the 57kb rate. Just can't get it to work. 38kb does work great.
Change serial3_BAUD in MP preferences to 38k and all other coms to 38kb and see if that fixes it.

Permalink Reply by Anis Nielsen on March 23, 2012 at 8:19pm Same here, I'm on xp , using APM1.4, via usb
no problems with 1.1.50 (had to get back to this version, tried first with 1.1.55,1.1.54,1.1.53,1.1.52 in that order)
So this morning, i tried with 1.1.55, i could load/update apm with 2.5.0 anytime, but could not do anything else (like the setup, or editing Pid's ; Always time out .. always the ""no heart beat packet received")
.. my 2cts for what it can help , thanks Michael for the really good work anyways !
Please try again with 1.1.56, which is specifically updated to address the issue a small minority of users are having with DTR .

not really blocking but good to know the bug is spotted and aimed at and apparently solved; What could be the bug so specific to xp?
I'll report as soon as i can, but unfortunately not quite tomorrow, so hope someone else will confirm the bug is gone long before that :)
Permalink Reply by Earl on March 23, 2012 at 10:23pm no bug here on usb or 38kb xbee

How were you able to install APM Planner to Windows 8?
When I try it tells me I need Framework 3.5.
Permalink Reply by Romp on March 25, 2012 at 9:43am I've updated to latest firmware (with MP) and this version of mission planner and am still having this issue
try enableing or disableing the reset apm on connect in configuration > planner
