Not getting any data readout with APM 2.4 and latest HK lite

Hey all,

forgive me if this has been addressed already, but i haven't been able to track down an answer in the previous issues posted here. I trying to run APM 2 with the stock firmware from the APM Planner MAV 1.0. When i connect via usb using APM Planner, i have no issues connecting, getting data, etc. When i go to run HK v.1.1.35, I select ardupilot mega, then connect, and get gibberish, until eventually the connection fails and it defaults back to gluonpilot, and continues the strange stream... Attached is a screenshot of what i am seeing....

On a side note, i am also looking to use HK for data analysis of flights using other programs, and was wondering if someone could send me one of their flights so i could look at the log file formatting and get a better idea of how post analysis works with HK....

Thanks, and my apologies if this has already been addressed.

Chris

I believe the APM2 is running on MAVlink 1.0. My software is not compatible with that version of MAVlink. I also don't own an APM2 currently....

Ok, thanks Paul. What is the last version that i can run on my APM2 (if any) that should still work with HK? Also, would you mind sending a data file of one of your flights for me to look at?

Thanks!

Chris

I've asked the powers the be to send me an APM2 if possible.

Attached is a simulated flight through downtown Cleveland. I don't have a good MAVlink one to send you.

Thanks so much, This should do fine.

is the KH GCS compatible with linux? I was unable to find a definitive answer online, after your posts on RC were all blocked.

It is compatible with any OS that runs Windows.

Awesome Paul. Thanks so much for your help. You have been awesome.

I too am having trouble connecting to HK Lite. My ardupilot mega 2.5 works with APM Planner using the latest MAVlink firmware, but I would prefer to use HK Lite for learning purposes.

Is there a firmware that will work on APM2 that will connect with HK Lite?

Thanks for all of the hard work you've done!
Mary Jo

Mary Jo,

HK GCS is not compatible with APM2 is what the issue comes down to.

Hey Paul,

Sorry for dragging this conversation on, but now that i've got your attention, i want to make the most of it!

Some other people had commented a while back about parsing the parameters used in the raw log output files used for playback. Would you be able to shed some light on the meanings of the various parameters? To the best of my knowledge, there are 23. Some sort of chart might be really handy for people trying to look at the data. for example, differences between ALT and ALH, or TTH vs THH. Thanks in advance!

Chris

I'm compatible with a bunch of protocols. What was posted was the ArduPilot Legacy ASCII (human readable) protocol specs. They are by far the simplest to implement if you're looking for a way to pass data from your device to my GCS. The reason I recommend it is because you can read it, it doesn't have any checksums (so not math there) and it's got all the features for pitch, roll, yaw, waypoint number, plus all the GPS data. So it's not a bi-directional solution, but it sure is simple.

Again, this is not my procotol....just a very simple one to implement.

I just noticed I should say : between each variable name and variable value, comma between variables. Just look at the first line in the document....

Thanks!

Seeing as this seems to work great for what i'm trying to do, i'll stick with the coding here. The only ones that didn't address were:

Initial number (634257646056875000) - is this the Time Of Week value and just not marked?

RSP?

PSP?

TTH?
CRT?

Other than that, i think i am good to go.

HK looks like it is going to be perfect for the simulations i'm trying to run. I really appreciate all your work, as well as the online support as i stuggle to get my head around coding (i'm an aero guy...)
