Hello Everyone,

I just recently got the NG code loaded on my arducopter and I wanted to try out the GPS.

I cannot get a RED LED light on my IMU that tells me I have a GPS lock. I am using the MTEK GPS that came with the arducopter kit.  What are some steps I can try?

I noticed there is some info about updating firmware on the GPS, but is that necessary for the GPS that came with the arducopter kit?

Also, I ran across some stuff that suggested the reset button, but I'm not sure where the reset button is?

Could someone point me in the right direction, Please?

The reset button worked for me. If you look in the Wiki you'll find a photo of the IMU board, the reset switch is on that board and it is labeled

You also need to be outside, of course. You won't get GPS lock inside.

I got a GPS lock inside, but my living room has bay windows. :)

@Chris,

If you are using the MediaTek GPS, you should be able to get a lock inside the house. I have the MediaTek GPS module attached to both my APs and APMs and can get a consistent lock inside my home which has an aluminum radiant shield in the attic.

It really depends in your house, orientation and a bunch of other things. I can't get lock in my house due to metal mesh in the adobe-style walls. Others with wood houses can get lock.

I think you could separate whether it's a location problem (i.e. you're in too urban an environment) or whether it's a firmware problem by checking the little blue light on the GPS itself.  I think the firmware change only affects how the GPS communicates with the APM no actually on it's ability to get a lock...

so if the little blue light on the GPS is flashing - it's your location.

If the blue light goes solid but the APM's lights don't indicate that it has a lock (sorry, i forget at this moment what light indicates a lock), then it's more likely that you need ot update the MTK's firmware.
