One motor intermittently doesn't start

Just build our 3dr quad rotor.  We've flown it a few times.

Yet, we've had numerous times where 1 of the 4 motors doesn't

spin up.  And when it does, (generally after we re-calbrate it)

it twitches a bit more than other motors (while idle).     I think it might be a

bad ESC.   I'm planning on ordering a replacemetn ESC, but was wondering if others

might have an insight.   its not consistent,  sometimes it  works consistently for

hours, then we move it to the field and it doesn't spin up.

Thanks for any help,  Steve

I had this the other day and it turned out a screw was too far into the motor and it added friction. I backed out the screw and added a washer, problem solved.

  • I had the same problem yesterday.  I did all my checks here in my office and headed to the airport.  When I got there I couldn't connect to the APM with my laptop.  (Laptop issues).  Then I just thought it would be fun to fly around a little while I was out and one motor would come up and go.  I got back to my office connected the computer and and checked things out and then the motor started working and has been since.
