One motor stops shortly after starts, can someome help

Hello expert,

I bought a ready-to-fly Arducopter from Udrones store, after I set up everything according to instruction, I found that all four motors can start at same time but after a few seconds one of the motor stops. I tried reload the firmware, and did manual ESC calibration and automatic ESC calibration, still, one the motor stops after a few seconds while other three motors keep running.

Then I swicthed the troublesome motor ( and its ESC ) to a different connector ( which controls a good running motor ) on the power distribution board, the problem remains, it means that the problem is with ESC or motor.

But, the troublesome motor can start ( it just automatically stops a few second after starts ) , so I guess the motor itself is good, then the only problem is with ESC ?

Anyone out there experienced similar issue? what could the the reason, how to fix it?

Please help, thanks in advance.

Usually ESCs have overcurrent shutdown. Sometimes when motors are bad ESC just shuts them after 5-15 seconds. It sounds that your motor is bad.

Did you change motor to different ESC. That way you can pinpoint if it is the motor or ESC but usually it is the motor.

I have seen few times similar happening on some of our motors and when we see those we just throw them away as over time they are getting more worse.
