Osd or not

HiCouple of newbie questions if I may.Would it be safe to say only reason why you would need osd is if you were flying fpv goggles? Otherwise you could just look at data & review logs from APM Mission Planner?Other question is will the APM planner work if you were just flying manually? So you could review height angles etc & data would be recorded as well? Thanks in advance

  • S is for screen and so, no screen no need. So, yeah, look at MP tlogs.

Q2, yes, of course. keep in mind you need telem for MP to get the flight data.

    • huh?

      • Q1. An OSD is nice to have if you have goggles (no telemetry radio needed), but if you have a monitor, you could easily look at yor mission planner, but you need to have the telementry radio to transmit back that info.
Q2. Yes you can manually, the apm will record everything into logs, but if you want real time...you have to have a telementry radio.
        Hope this helps
        • Thanks for responses guys

          • Hi,

Even if you don't do FPV, you might be interested in recording the video feed with navigation data overlayed on it. It gives another way to review a flight after the fact.
