Please help with electronics build list

I have put a build list together (minus the frame) For a FPV and UAV project.

( I have not decided yet if it is going to be a quad or Y6 config.)

As I live in Europe, I cannot use 900mhz. I was going to use 2.4ghz for the video and 72mhz for the radio, but I want to use Xbee which would be on 2.4ghz, and there is much more choice of radio equipement on 2.4ghz than on 72mhz. So I am going to use 2.4ghz for radio transmision/xbee , and 5.8ghz for video. Please prompt me if I have missed anything (inc cables) or something is not correct on the build list (electronics side) :

Ardupilot 2.0 electronics main board / 2836-9 Motors 880kv (X4) // 12x3.8 APC props ( x4 ) // ESC 30 Amp ( X4 ) // Quadcopter Power Distribution Board // Turnigy 9X 9Ch Transmitter w/ Module & 8ch Receiver // Xbee-Telemetry-kit-2-4-GHz // Xbee-Oil Pan connector cable // Camera cable connector // GoPro HD cam and mount // Micro FPV 5.8Ghz Video A/V Transmitter RX 6.0Km Rrange (example ebay : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260829768646?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&;... )

I have listed LR video transmitter/reciever kit as I want to reach max distances. I have not found a suitible amp for the radio side on 2.4ghz yet (4-6kms)

Any help would be fantastic ! thanks...

    Hello Dudz,

The Xbee's will only give you about a mile max range unless you are looking to do antenna tracking, see tests here.

What power 5.8 GHz are you looking to use? 6km sounds a long way for that system.

You might want to look at other options on the radio system as pushing 2.4 GHz that hard is not the best plan. I would post this more on a FPV site where they can offer more advice on the LRS remote systems.  There are a few on the market that will do many miles!

The ArduPilot is a great choice for the Auto flights, but it looks like you are looking more for a FPV set up... It might also be worth noting that the copter kit you have spoken about has a flight time of about 10 min's so I don't think you will be going to far from where you are starting from.

I don't want to sound down on your plans but would hate for you to spend a lot of money to find you are only able to fly a short way away.......

    Regards
