Point me in the right direction

Hey all.I'm new to the forum. Here from myrtle beach, sc USA.I've been into RC for a while but mostly quads. I've been pondering the idea of longer flight times and distances, and thought about a plane design.I'm hoping to get some ideas from you all on the best place to start. I'm not going to give a budget because I know how that goes. I start with a budget and blow it it of the water on my projects.I've been looking at the quanum observer/ranger ex. As a platform to start with.My next question would be about telemetry and video. From what I understand, I should be able to plan the mission for the craft in which it would basically fly it's waypoints, and for manual control and fpv I could either use a base station or cellular connection.I don't know what ranges I'm expecting. I know for starters id like to be able to range to the other side of a nearby lake for aerial video which is probably 20 miles. Cellular coverage isn't a problem anywhere around. If reasonably achievable I'd like to explore a one way range of 90 miles or so. I realize that's on the very outer limits of what people seem to have achieved with this frame.I really like the idea of using cellular but a base station with a radio operators license would be nice for the case of a hurricane.Anyway. I'm just in the drawing board process and your thoughts and opinions on the direction I should take this would help tremendously.
