Privacy in Public

I was talking to a friend the other day about how I had never seen a real drone before other than at a film shoot. About an hour later I looked up and saw one hovering just overhead and caught some great footage. It was totally cool but we really had no idea who was running it. Some people thought it was creepy. I guess I have kind of mixed emotions in that I would like to know if I am under surveillance. But if it was just someone playing around and getting some cool footage I wouldn't complain. I was lucky to be able to capture this as a result.

Should we have any expectation of privacy when we're out in public with regard to drones?

  • I Think things like Google glass will be a bigger worry than drones.... at least Civil Aviation Authorities wont let any Joe Blogg fly a UAV in public space however they will be able to get hold of Google glass or similar devices. Which is greater cause for concern than a UAV. Also google glass will have far greater capability in terms of maybe facial recognition technology etc.
