Problem with ESC calibration

Hello every body !

I am beginner in the field and I am French then I am sorry for the errors spelling or grammar to.

I would like to set up a prototype in Y6 for my internship and I decided to follow the steps on this site.

Unfortunately I have a problem when I want to do the calibration of the ESC

I think following  the configuration steps (- First time setup - ESC calibration - Setting corect prop management - Connecting camera)

Here's the problems:

I can't calibrate the ESC.

There are different symptoms:

-When I do a calibration there is no beep.

-In of other calibration, engine bursts in the disorder (ex: 2 7 1 8 4 3) but for engines 3 and 4,it's the  engine 8 turns.

-In of other calibration, no engine wants to calibrate

-Sometime engine will beep quickly and continued.

-In of a calibration, the engine will be calibrate but when I accelerate, engine not working properly

I tried updating the software (mission planner).

Here's my questions:

-Cable USB should remained online during the calibration?

-Should be done a calibration of the remote control every time that I test a new calibration?

-on your tutorial, you connect inputs (from RC)  and outputs (from ESC) of the APM card, is it  necessary to connect the two at the same time?

I have connected GPS, sonar and Xbee, be it the disconnected to the ESC calibration?

This is the equipment I use:

RC: Hobbyking HK60F 2.4 GHz 6Ch

Map: APM kit

software: Mission planner 1.1.42 (update 1.1.52)

I hope be understandably

Please answer me

Kind regards

Ben

Have you ever calibrated an ESC before? One thing that got me at first was the fact that the ESC expected a minimum PWM from my radio. My radio outputted 1120 at low throttle, and the ESC wouldn't accept anything above about1080 before arming.

  • You should try this method because I was not able to use authomatic calibration:

    1. With NO BATTERY CONNECTED, plug the three-wire plug of the ESC you want to calibrate into the throttle channel of your RC receiver.
    2. Turn on your transmitter and push the throttle stick to full up.
    3. Plug the ESC into the LiPo battery
    4. You will hear a musical note and then 2 beeps. After the two beeps drop the throttle to full down. You will then hear a number of beeps (3 beeps for 3 cell LiPo, 4 for 4 cell, etc) and then a single longer beep indicating the end points have been set and the ESC is calibrated and ready to fly. You may now disconnect your LiPo.
    5. Repeat for the other five ESCs.
    6. If it appears that the ESC's did not calibrate then the throttle channel on the transmitter might need to be reversed

Order is not important, but you need to do the above operation for all the 6 ESCs.

Also be sure you have NO trim and that your radio is configured for Airplane or Acro, not Helicopter.

    Hope this helps,

    Emile
