I've been flying with a Spektrum DX5e until now, so I was only able to use the "gear" selection (5th channel) to switch between auto and manual.
My new DX7 allows me 2 more channels theoretically, but I'm stumped as to how to implement it for changing to other modes??
On the manual, the diagram indicates pin 8 (in, autopilot control) on the APM should connect to the receiver. This is fine for one mode. But now how can I get my receiver's extra channels to tell the APM to go to RTL, FBW etc?
On the "modes" setup it does not see me switching the additional channels on my transmitter (DX7), only the "gear" switch is picked up by the CLI. I've tried connecting another cable from pin 7 to my receiver, but no luck.
Please help!?
Thanks

GEAR --> GEAR ACT
Mine just says GEAR --> GEAR ON
Also, SW ELE D/R never shows in the options, just SW ON
I'll ask a dx7 expert tomorrow.

If you do figure it out, consider writing a blog post with instructions, so it can be added to the wiki for others with a DX7.
Permalink Reply by Hein du Plessis on August 17, 2011 at 10:51pm It's quite different to the DX8. I will definitely write an entry on how to program it. Not the easiest of user interfaces, the DX7.

Will be glad to help with that if you dont manage.
I know the dx7 quite well, perhaps we can make a new Wiki Page

did you get configure the dx7 modes mixing channels??
If so could you help me??
Thanks

This is how it worked for my DX7,
I use various switch combinations of the Flaps and the Gear switch:
Press Scroll Down + Select to access the programming mode
Go to Travel Adjust, click on Select till you reach FLAP, set FLAP to 65%-65% (with the increase/decrease button)
Leave gear on 100%- 100%
Go to mixing (by clicking Scroll button) , select mix 1
Select GER > Flap on
Set rate: to 19% and 31% (with the increase/decrease button)
Set SW to on
Leave Offset at 0
leave Trim: set to Inh.
connect APM to Ardupilot Mega Planner, go to setup and assign different flight modes to the switch combinations of your remote.
