Hello,

I would like to compile and upload the Arducopter code to my UAV. To do so I followed the instructions on the wiki, that is :

-installed the Arduino 1.0.3 (Arudpilot) version on win7

-installed the 2.8.1 software version (the two folders Arducopter and libraries)

 

I then open the sketchbook Arducopter. That gives me plenty of tabs in the Arduino IDE.

I click on tools/compile-verify and I get plenty of compile errors. I provide the log heredunder. Does anyone knows what's wrong in the process ? Did I miss something and wrongly configured something ? Or did not configure something ?:

Maybe you forgot choosing the board.

I just downloaded and compile the code without problems. I use Arduino IDE 1.0.1

Have you pointed the sketchbook into the folder "ArduCopter-2.9-rc1"? (File -> Preferences -> Sketchbook Location)

Yes I have selected the preferences to set my sketchbook location where I have copied the two directories "Arducopter" and "Libraries" (found in the Arducopter-2.8.1 zip file)

 

And Yes Duy,  I have selected the right board "Ardupilot mega 2.x" in the Ardupilot menu->"HAL board"

I compile without any problems my own sketches on my arduino but this arducopter code simply does not compile and I do not understand what's wrong. Is it the 2.8.1 version that has this compiling errors ? should I use the last 2.9-RC1 ?

Just did a new compiling test without selecting the right board in menu "Ardupilot"->Hal board->Ardupilot mega 2.x. But I kept the mega 2560 board selected in the menu tools->board. Then it compiles without errors.

This boiled down to the question : What is that misleading "Ardupilot" menu for anyway ?

And conclusion  is : please add EXPLCITLY in the wiki programming Arducopter page NOT TO select the right board in the menu Ardupilot, just to select the board in the "normal" tools/board menu.

Well it does compile when not selecting the Board from Ardupilot->HAL Board Menu. But has anyone seen a difference between the sketch compiled and uploaded by Arduino and the one that mission planner automatically uploads? 

In flight data tab of mission planner when you connect to your APM 2.x board, the dataStream begins and you can see things move in the top-left indicator as you change the orientation of your board. However the firmware compiled from Arduino IDE by NOT selecting the board does not show any such thing. 

Conclusion: There is a reason why the ArduPilot menu is included. But then why does it give compile errors on choosing the board?

I am desperately trying to get this working but getting similar errors. Have tried all the above.

 

It seems the library file ‘betterStream.h’ is trying to include a file ‘stream.h’ which is nowhere in sight in the 2.9zip file.

 

It is however on my PC in an Atmel folder. Should I move it across?

 

 

I have also tried to build 2.9-release without success :( Head version from git compiles withouth problems with "HAL Board = APM 2" selected... It's a secret how 2.9-release was compiled :)

SOLVED!

Pull source from github and switch to ArduCopter-2.9 branch (I had many problems with sources from 2.9zip file). Edit APM_Config.h and uncomment the line:

#define CONFIG_APM_HARDWARE APM_HARDWARE_APM2

I thinked that it will be defined from Makefile, but not.

I am trying to upload an edited version of v2.9.1b to my APM1 1280, all I have done is define the GPS protocol disable CLI and disable logging in order to save flash. It does not compile! I just keep getting 'AP_Int16' does not name a type. It is really annoying, please can someone help me
