Question about the connector on my battery....

Ok, I ordered a battery from hobbyking and it came with a connector that I don't have the other male part to connect to it. I have extra connectors for which I do have the male and female ends...But when I try and cut the connector off of the battery, it sparks........how can I safely remove the connector off of the battery and solder on a new one? Do I have to completely drain the battery of power? How would I go about doing so? It's a 2200mah lipo

  • I remember buying my first LiPo, soldering the connector onto it backwards--with reverse polarity. My simple solution is to cut off the connector with diagonal cutters--both wires at once. Lots of sparks, magic smoke, and a trip to the store to buy my second LiPo.

You will only get sparks if you are somehow connecting positive and negative, so your should cut one wire at a time.

You NEVER want to drain a lipo or you will damage it!

Remember that the battery should have a female end and the ESC side should be male so that the terminals are not exposed.
