This has got to be an easy one for somebody...
I am trying to configure my radio using the terminal, and each time I type "radio" it says "radio setup:" and sits. For hours. Nothing.
I am powering my Rx with an ESC hooked to a LiPo and have the Rx connected to the APM.
When I power up my Tx, the Rx gets power.
Still.... nothing. I even tried using the first time setup button on the configure screen, same thing happens.
Before powering the Rx this way, I had the ESC going into the 3rd servo output pins, as well as having the USB connected to the board. I read that this could be dangerous, and am now regretting it.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Bracing for the worst, but hoping for the best.

Just to clarify, from top to bottom = signal, power, ground?.... which is the opposite of how my AR8000 servo pins are (just double checking)
Yes, I am connected to channels 1-4 on this one.
GND = bottom
5v = midle
sig = top
Permalink Reply by tony wolf on June 27, 2011 at 5:56pm Yes, that's what I've got.
So the solid blue LED means no signal from radio, right?
....which just boggles me even more.
Permalink Reply by tony wolf on June 27, 2011 at 6:09pm Power cycle didn't help.
Yes, powering the rail on the 3rd output, using ESC connected to LiPo.

Permalink Reply by tony wolf on June 28, 2011 at 5:58am Kind of... my lights are on, but it's obvious I'm not getting a signal from the Rx, and my ESCs are calibrated.
The power rails are working so nothing is too burned up.... really scratching my head at this one.
Permalink Reply by Andrew Adams on June 28, 2011 at 6:30am Ya, I'm very lost...my power rail works and will power the Rx on any of the outputs. I can even control the motors, however, not as you'd expect. ( you can see that in the video)
I just don't understand why the lights aren't on. I'm worried I fried something and that i'll have to go spend more to get another APM.

Good news: I swapped out the Rx with another, and it now works like a dream.
Bad news: The Rx that I ruined was my brand new AR8000. Good thing I bought the Dx8 last week in the first batch that now comes with 2 Rx's. Still a bummer though.
So if anyone is experiencing the same issue, try a different Rx. See, I told you this would be an easy one. :)
