Recording GPS/IMU information and writing to .jpg

Hello everyone. I am new to DYI Drones and I am amazed by all of the capabilities and technology to say the least. I grew up building and flying fixed wing RC aircraft and have been wanting to put cameras in them for years. What everyone is doing here takes this to a whole different level to say the least.

I can mount a small digital camera in a plane and activate it with a servo, no problem. What I am wanting to do is very basic as compared to what everyone else is doing. I can record GPS during the flight and then add it to the images after the flight. Works great and the "flight path" and picture location is pretty accurate.  I have found a small GPS logger that records the GPS data pretty accurately and I can geo tag the pics with free geo tagging software that came with it. I am using a Trackstick.

What I would like to try next is to be able to record GPS and IMU (xyz data) so that I can put all of that info on the pictures. My goal is to be able to open the pic up in GIS and it takes me to right where the pic was taken. I have found a very inexpensive GIS software, <$200.00, that will let you open jpg.s with this information on them.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
