Replay a manual flight's telemetry with autopilot flight?

I have been looking through Ardupilot (Arducopter) documentation, forum posts and elsewhere and haven't found anything indicating whether it is possible to fly a manually piloted flight, record the telemetry from the flight, and then use this telemetry data for future autopilot flights along the same flight path, recreating as many attributes of the original flight (altitude, yaw, pitch, etc.) as possible.

An example would be a flight plan that would be very difficult to setup via the Mission Planner, but would be possible for a skilled pilot to execute. Instead of needing the skilled pilot to fly every flight, it would be great if the pilot could fly one manual flight and then use the resulting telemetry to execute future autopilot flights from the same starting location.

My understanding is that Arducopter's PID controller should be capable of this sort of thing, but I haven't found any references to it. I'm guessing that either there is specific terminology that I should be looking for, or there is some unsolved technical hurdles to implementing this workflow.

I would be very appreciative for any insights anyone has on this topic!
