RS232 to TTL

I am looking for a RS232 to TTL (Xbee Pro) adapter board that can take +7v / -7v on the RS232 side. From the what I can see most of the boards only accommodate 5v or they do not mention the spec. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks in advance..

  • xbee ttl work good
  • Anything that is RS-232 better be able to handle +/- 7V. And handle the bit inversion.

If you are seeing something that is 5V, it isn't RS-232, it is TTL level serial. For example, what boards are you looking at?

You might just make your own with a Maxim IC & a couple of caps (or not depending on the chip).

  • I have used xbee serial explorer boards from sparkfun and they seem to work ok. I think the rs232 signal spec is +/- 12v so anything that is spec'ed to handle rs232 signal voltages should be fine at 7 (I think).
