I know that this forum gets a lot of questions about connecting the APM to raspberry PIs via UART and most people refer people to the wiki but I had a specific question about safely powering the APM that I couldn't find an answer for. Right now I have my APM powered via a power module that acts as a bridge from the Lipo battery to the power distribution board. I'm also planning on connecting an RPI to UART0 so that I can communicate with the board over serial. I have a level converter to handle the voltage conversion between the RPI and the APM.My concern is that I know you can burn out a board by having it connected to USB and a power module at the same time. Is there any similar concern about having the UART0 +5v pin connected to my RPI while also running on a PM? I'm paranoid about doing damage to either board and I was hopping someone might be able to give me a clear answer before I connect anything.

  • Yeah, I mentioned in my original post that I have a level shifter already. I'm using a nice one I found from a company called bitwizard. The APM is using 5V.
