We are a team of students aiming to build a drone for our school project. Problem : we’ve never done this before, so we need to learn. A lot.
Here are the requirements. Any advice or resource we can look up is more than welcome !
Drone weight : We estimate it between 2-3 kg, but this prediction is highly inacurate since we have no experience in building drones… Note that the prototype’s frame is more likely to be built out of cheap materials (wood etc.)
Payload will weigh around 3 kg.
Configuration : Quad if possible. We are looking to reduce the size to a minimum so the smaller the better !
Battery : none. Our drone will be captive and powered through cables.
To sum up we are not trying to build a speed racer, but rather a steady, gentle and reliable UAV.
From what we gathered low KV motors with “long” propellers are what we’re looking for.
Also we are aware that building our own frame for a first project might be too ambitious, so if you have good kits in mind, we’re listening.
