SHORT digital camera trigger via receiver output

Hey guys, i have an old but still reasonable digital camera kicking around and pulled it apart, found that if i put a short over the push button contact the camera will focus and take a shot.

Now i need to trigger the NO circuit with a SHORT via a receiver channel or an output on the APM.

Can this be done?

Thanks guys!

  • hi guys, I have connected APM 2.5 on my notebook and A9 output wired to my camera trigger.

I set a mision around my home street to test if camera take a shoot when Im on selected waypoint.

I have planned a little mission to test the system. I have used Do set relay action with 1 value for "on" and 0 for "off". But it does not work.

On terminal console, I perform test relay and it work fine!!

    What is the problem???

Remember that I have no rc input and output conected. only A9 is wired to my camera trigger.

I dont need APM to place on any uav, just use it for walk on my hand and take pictures when I pass through determined waypoint.

    Thanks!

  • No need for additional hardware in this case, just connect the signal and negative wires from A9 on your APM to the pins you're shorting on your camera, then configure the camera trigger mode to RELAY on the hardware->camera config page in Mission Planner.

You can then trigger a picture by:

    1) configuring camera trigger to a receiver channel (e.g. CH7) on the hardware->camera config page, and toggling that transmitter channel

    2) in response to a DO_DIGICAM_CONTROL auto mission command

    3) right-clicking on the map in Mission Planner and selecting 'trigger camera NOW'

It works for me in ArduCopter 2.9.1, not sure about the current status in ArduPlane, but I think it wasn't working recently, might be fixed now.

  • Yes, it certainly can be done from a receiver channels. You will need a receiver controlled switch, like this one from Hobby King http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__8833__Turnigy_Receiver_Contr...
