I am just getting started in the quad arena and would like to start with a good flight stabilization system that can be expanded to the more advanced capabilities of UAV a step at a time. Can the ArduPilot Mega 1 be used for this function or does it require an IMU to provide stabilization or are there other options?

Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.
