I've just about got my Arducopter Quad (with the APM 1 board set) ready to fly...

I can connect with the MavLink... have the ESC's calibrated, and motors turning in the correct direction.I can see the radio control inputs in the software set-up.... everything seems ready to go.

But when I disconnect the MavLink, and the USB cable.... I no longer have RC control of the copter.

Is there something I am missing about saving settings... or disconnecting from the USB?  If I can't figure this out, I'm going to be searching for a very long USB cable...  :-)

Thanks!

Could it be simply the way you power your RX?

The receiver is running off a BEC from the copter.  The radio will not function (with.. or without the USB connected) unless the 3 cell LiPo is also connected....

It turns out that it was the lack of a solder jumper on the tiny SJ1 bridge....  one dab of solder, and now the board is powered... with or without the USB connection.

Thanks for the help!

Taylor: your board should have arrived with a removable jumper already in place on the SJ1 pins. Wasn't that the case?  If not, when did you get it? Some of the earliest boards didn't have those, but the last thousand or so should have all come like that.

Whoops, sorry. I see you've got an APM1 board.  Never mind!

Chris,

Thanks for your concern.  I bought this Quad Arducopter "second hand" from a fellow on the Runryder forum. It was new, never flown... but previously owned....
