I did not fly my ArduCopter for around 10 weeks or even more than that. Now suddenly it is showing bad compass health in the mission planner, my HUD reacts and moves perfectly according to the drone but same message keeps on showing "Bad Compass Health". Compass calibration shows status 1 errors 99 and not able to do compass calibration. I reset my full parameter tree and then tried but still the same results. I don't know the pins of the i2c port so that I can check my wiring. Also i checked for my 3.3v regulator and the regulator is giving out 4.4v but my wires for the power in the i2c port are not connected the GPS module came like that.Help me with this issue.

Thanks in advance.

  • I'm having a similar problem with my hex, an APM 2.8 FC, and an external Ublox GPS/Compass unit on a 7" pole (clearly far, far away from any electric wires and metal..  My difficulty is that I have never been able to get a compass calibration to pass.  I've tried seven or eight times to calibrate it, making sure all the white dots are blanked out on the 3D display in Mission Planner - even went so far as to disable the automatic canceling of the white dots (you have to closely watch the display as you move the copter around so that you can hit the white dots).

I don't know if APM 2.8 has an internal compass or not - I've seen on some of these forums that it does, and I've seen that it doesn't.  I'm going to try disconnecting the external compass altogether, putting a jumper on the appropriate pins on the connector next to where the compass plugs into the AOM, and then attempting a compass cal in Mission Planner.  If it does have one;, maybe I can get it to calibrate.  We'll see.
