Recently there was quite a bit of discussion about the Sony Webbie camera and the addition of the magnetic lens attachment. Has anyone had the chance to fly the Webbie with the lens. I use the flip and it seems to work pretty good with the lens attached. I am trying to decide if I want to switch over the Webbie to use for documentation and fpv. The lens comes from www.usbfever.com

thanks

Hi Doug , Tried here , couldn't find the exact model. For those who are interested to try it out , can you pls give out the exact URL?
As to magnetically stabilized lens , I had chance to try out Cannon binocular with such facility gew years back and was amazed at the performance. incase you decide to try it out , we will be veryyy interested in seeing the difference. Thanks

Here is the direct link and product code. It works great on my flip but with my iPhone there is just a tiny bit of halo. In my testing I think it helps to smooth out the image on the moving video and it increases the field of view by about 30-35%. Product Code#:AG0794.

Ok Doug, found it. I misunderstood when you said magnetic lens ( which in this case is method of attachment to camera body) . I suspect the lens might get blown off in slip stream or might shift due to vibration . i remember reading a post on same lens/subject some time back. thanks for the link.
Here is a pic of the lens mounted on the flip. The 2 additional photos show the same scene with and without the lens. The lens increases the field of vision but looks like it might cut the f/stop by 1 stop and soften the image. When we are up in the air flying over I think it does a good job and it is worth the tradeoff.

Looks pretty Good Doug, Y not try it on any slow flyer and let us all know. I know lot of ppl here are using sony webie and would be very useful info for all of them, I used some thing like this with not great video but that had more to do with semi smoked wind shield of Piper cub where I had mounted the camera inside the cabin , airframe has lot of payload lifting capacity, I can;t mount it outside on the bottom as I use pits muffler. will try it this weekend on the side of the airframe. I tried wifi camera too in this setup but didn't like the setup either :( , only good thing about it is you don't need any additional hardware except bat. Hope your test will give some good option for us all. thanks for sharing.Good luck
