Craig, Not 100% sure my setup will work on DX8 but if you want, try my setup. See "Seeing Up 6 Flight Modes Using Flaps and Elec D/R Switches for the Spektrum DX7s Radio".

3DR just called me back and they sent me the files for DX8. Big help in switch assignments and so on. Big time saver.

There isn't much radio setup to do even on them. I've got a 9303, and have setup a DX7 before. Neither were a dx8, but the setup is pretty similar. I didn't do anything to them other than setup airplane mode, make sure to plug the right wires from the rx into the right spots on the APM. I think by default the APM has the channel assignments more in line with Futaba, so for JR/Spektrum I had to set channel 1 of my rx (throttle) into channel 3 on the APM, ch. 2 of the rx (aileron) to channel one on the APM, rx ch. 3 (elevator) to ch. 2 on the APM, and 4 went to 4.
Then I configured a timer and some expo/dual rates on mine for more gentle flying.

I am having a hard time getting my Dx8 to operate the 6 flight modes on Pixhawk. I am running flaps on a Bixler 2 and curious how I should go about this. Any suggestions on setting up? I think my prob is assigning switches in switch select.
