Hello,

I just got my APM2 and 3DR radios.  I got the radios setup, and have the APM talking to the Ground Station.  Telemetry and gps is being sent to the GCS and all seems well until I tried to "play around" with the terminal mode.

The terminal shows a bunch of scrolling garble.  I was once able to get into AT command mode once using +++ in the 3DRConfig tool, at which point the garble stopped, but I cannot consistently enter command mode.

Is this garble normal?  If not, what is causing it?  Why can't I consistently enter command mode?

Thanks in advance.

Its MAVLink data. Do you want to enter the modem commands, or the CLI?
In general, you don't access the CLI from the telemetry port. It can be done, but only for a brief period of time after boot/reboot. This prevents your aircraft from becoming a brick when you accidentally switch to CLI mode while in the air.
It is the modem commands I cannot consistently open. I guess I really don't need to, just wanted to out of curiosity.

I understand the CLI isn't supposed to be accessed through telemetry, and I get why.

The garble concerned me, as I thought the MAVLink data was plain text. Good to know that is normal.
