Testing quadcopter using pc as a power source

Hello guys, I'm another newbie to UAVs (and electronics to an extent). I was wondering, is it possible to power the quadcopter and all its parts such as motors via the APM2's usb port? I'm planning to attach a battery later on however it would be convenient if I could do little tests while connected to my pc.

  • You can power the APM board from the computer USB, but you will not be able to power your motors / esc from the board or computer there is not enough power supplied to them.

you will need to attach a battery if you want to test your motors (don't forget to remove the props when testing)
