Time based UAV Aerial Photography.

I just got asked to help out on an interesting job.

Essentially, a farmer wants to have thermal imaging of his trees done at night during frost warning. Areas of the farm that are in danger of going below freezing can then get sprayed

California has just declared a drought emergency so water is now precious and expensive.

My questions is can we use ardupilot/mission planner to set up a uav to take off at certain times of the day to reconnoiter areas of the farm.

Example:

at 9pm UAV takes off on its pre-programmed (waypoint) course. when completed it comes back to base , shuts its motor down and recharges it batteries (without shutting down the ardupilot) while waiting until:at 1am UAV takes off on its pre-programmed (waypoint) course, etc.

I checked through the forums but could not find anything directly referencing this question.

Thanks

Edit:

Changed category to one i think better represents the question.

  • The APM doesn't currently have a "timed" function. It will start the following waypoints when switched to AUTO mode.

I suppose you make a program on a ground station to send the command at a particular time.
