Turnigy G25 motor question

Im in the process of building a octo-copter for lifting a heavy payload.

Im looking to use the Turnigy G25 motors.

It says on the HK site that I should use 14x7 props.

Should I? Or should I use the 12x45 from DIYdrones?

This motor is to heavy! My suggestion is to try another motor around 120/130 g, with 12x4.7 or 12x3.8 props.
Look at my config if you want:

One hour and the video is on my youtube channel.

A recent test of the G25 on 3S 5000mAh Turnigy pack:

    14x7 bluebird prop (similar to APCe) 42.9A 486 W 11.33V 7410 rpm 15.2 rpm/W

  • Gareth,

how many cell battery are you going to run them on?

recommended 14x7 is for 3S lipo and the 11x8 is for 4S lipo

You use a larger prop at lower voltage because of the lower rpm and smaller prop at higher voltage because of faster rpm to keep the load on the motor nearly the same.

In this thread we've been talking about props http://diydrones.com/forum/topics/help-crash-report-with-log-and-vi...

The 12x45 is a slow flyer prop and may not be designed for the rpm range that a octo-copter uses, for safety factor you might want to look at a heavier bladed prop. 12x7 would be similar on this motor to 11x8 recommended. Those with more experience can give us more info.
