Greetings,

Last night while I took our flying wing out and had something odd occur.  After powering up and not even touching the plane the elevons began to jitter and move randomly.  The problem went away when I switched APM to FBWA and then back to STABILIZE.  Any thoughts of why this might occur?

Here were the steps I went through:

1) Set plane on level ground

2) Apply power for APM and receiver on then turn on servo and motor power.  I have separate batteries.

3) Servos twitch in a random motion.  Moving the TX controls produces no response.  It reminded me of old style radio interference when using an analog RC receiver.

4) Switch to FBWA mode for couple of seconds

5) Switch to STABILIZE mode

6) Problem disappears.  Plane works normally.  Servos respond, APM works fine.

Transmitter = Turnigy 9x

Receiver = Turnigy 8Ch

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Marc

  • I have a simillar thing happen on my bixler when I power up in stabilize. It won't respond to stick input untill the elevator servo twitched a couple of times  (but this looks more like a boot sequence). Then it goes full throttle sometimes. first time it scared the living hell outta me. After switching to a different mode it stops.
