Hopefully you have a good health insurance plan and don't discriminate against pilots who have been seriously injured due to prior drone operations. They're likely to be highly safety oriented due to their previous experience. You'll need to provide your own supervisor though.
Permalink Reply by john mempin on June 3, 2012 at 1:12am Hi Pete. just want to inquire if this offer is still open.. I currently work as a test pilot/lab technician here in UAE both for large scale rotary and fixed wing research projects. Is the company willing to hire expats like me just in case? thanks....

Permalink Reply by Andreas Breitenstein on June 5, 2012 at 12:28am Why would you look in the US, when you could employ locals?
Permalink Reply by Pete Bethune on June 5, 2012 at 10:05am because we work in many countries and we want the same pilot who is used to the UAV. because many countries we go to do not have UAV pilots. try hiring a UAV pilot in Angola for example. and because we are doing a TV show around our work, and the network prefers US accents.
Permalink Reply by john mempin on June 5, 2012 at 10:12am yep same here where i work there are no locals who has the capability of flying UAVs thats why they went outside just to find one....
Permalink Reply by Jake Stew on June 5, 2012 at 3:34pm In many countries most of the population can't speak properly. That creates a big problem in fields like this where good communication is important for safety.
All pilots have to speak English, period. All ATC everywhere in the world officially use English.
Permalink Reply by Pete Bethune on June 5, 2012 at 3:35pm yeah agreed.
Permalink Reply by john mempin on June 6, 2012 at 9:59am Yes....Solid communication in the field between ground control and pilot is very essential or else nothing will be achieved. You will just waste those precious flying time doing nothing and you might put that expensive aircraft and even the ground crew at great risk. I know that first hand.
Permalink Reply by Crashpilot1000 on September 9, 2012 at 2:44pm I can fly multirotors and speak with Arnold Schwarzenegger accent - that is solid communication and will impress.
Hahahaha......eill bi bakk
