I've tried to use Mission Planner's self update from the Help screen with two different older versions of Planner on two different computers. They both hang up at the same point with a 404 error.
A screen shot of the error is attached.
Has anyone else tried or seen this?

yup, had the same issue, I've just downloaded it from there http://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/downloads/list
unpacked and it worked, though I still have no idea how to use it efficiently yet.
I can't verify this with 1.1.18--updating works fine for me. Please download the zipped version and try again.
Permalink Reply by Andy Demartini on January 8, 2012 at 9:14am I'm sure that downloading the zip file and installing it as a new version would work. I'm just saying that this was a repeatable problem that was seen several times in a row across two different systems. The problem in the JPEG (Error 404) just means that the file/page was not found. It always stopped at the same file, too. It may be that trying to update 4 subversions at a time jumps over some intermediate change that the old (.14) version isn't programmed to handle. On the other hand, it could also be something that crept into Michael's update site that he would like to know about and fix. I'm not dead in the water, just trying to keep the simple stuff out of the bug list.
Andy: If you can repeat this problem with 1.1.18 we'll look at it. Otherwise, I think this was a transient issue with older versions and should now be gone.
