This is a spinoff of the now Notorious APM/Ublox/Disappointment thread. Dedicated to providing a Specific thread for each particular problem, in it's appropriate place. Please feel free to create your own threads if you have and idea or concern, and MSG me so I can post the link for you.
This Thread is dedicated to helping unhappy APM owners by Buying there APMx units so that they can get into something that they would feel more comfortable with.
The APM is a complex piece of hardware, and allot of people are looking for a more out of the box solution. Others are frustrated for a variety of reasons, and still others have "shorted out" or damaged APM units. either way, we can help!
This thread is also for people who want to buy those units! By pooling out resources we can reduce the cost and help to lower the financial risk by spreading it out among all of us.
Now I know of people who have bought broken and unrepairable units, or units with certain components burned out (but still fixable) I have a few Ideas on how we can help to minimize this. One Idea I have is to appoint 1 or more of us with the right skills to determine what (If anything) is wrong with an APM, and what it will take to fix it, or if it is something that some of us can live with. (Burned out GPS on and APM2, Broken Data Flash, ETC)
Some of the ways this could work: having a flate rate for each APM version, or negotiate each price separate. We could also have a range of prices, based on the condition of the APM. Once the unit is received and tested we can then reimburse the seller, or if there is a problem we can make them an offer based on what it will take to fix it, and if the seller agrees we can pay them, or if not send there APM back.(Amazon among others have similar programs for cell phones and other electronics) Now if were all just paying a small part of the cost for each APM (For instance 5 people would contribute $10 each for a $50 unit) The risk is very low. And members can choose which unit they would like to buy for themselves, and Reimburse the rest.
Payments Could be Via PayPal, and the seller has the assurance that if anything happens, we are all responsible for taking care of them. (none of us want to lose our reputations on this forum, because if you do 1 person wrong, believe you will never here the end of it!)
These are just some Ideas, although Im sure there are those of us that would buy them even if we did not form a group. Suggestions from both sides are welcome, needed, and necessary. PM me if you wish to talk in private.

Permalink Reply by Kenneth Bailey on September 11, 2012 at 10:36am Umm, careful with the use of this "The APM Buyback thread!" as it would make it look like 3DR buys them back. And that opens new cans of worms to cry over. Yea I know but people do not read close enough.
Member buy back maybe or, and there is already a thread for it "For sell". I fear the title could be misleading to the trolls who will happily jump right on it.
Now it's sunny, 73f and I'm gone FPV and AP flying all day long !

Permalink Reply by Will Snodgrass on September 11, 2012 at 9:29pm You know the same thing crossed my mind, but this was birthed to serve a few different ideas.
Foremost to give people from a certain thread an Immediate outlet, and also to form some sort of community based alternative for people who 1. Are always looking for spare tech, and 2. people who don't want to bother putting up an add and waiting for a buyer.
Permalink Reply by Juan Carlos Hdez on September 12, 2012 at 4:03am good idea. I have an APM2 that doesn't want work.
Permalink Reply by Will Snodgrass on September 12, 2012 at 3:30pm And thats's definatley part of what were looking for!
is it the 2 or 2.5? And what exzctly is wrong with it, and what do you think caused it?
Permalink Reply by Juan Carlos Hdez on September 12, 2012 at 4:49pm I think it is the greater sensitivity of sensors in the APM2 (not 2.5), posibly the vibrations induced by motors make erratic variations of speed (i'm not sure). I've changed APM2 by APM1 (2560) and works fine. The APM it's installed over a plate with silicone antivibration grummets, and the APM attached with double side foam tape also. I see in the raw sensors screen that with apm2 are higher than apm1.
The sound of the motors seems ok and with not too much vibrations.
I've not tried again.

Permalink Reply by Ellison Chan on September 12, 2012 at 6:57pm I don't get this. Some people want to buy other people's APMs, because they are disappointed with what they have? Wouldn't it be better if those members try to help their fellow members to get their APM working instead of buying the "broken" APMs?
Permalink Reply by Kenneth Bailey on September 12, 2012 at 9:25pm Sure would. Most are not broken but just need some patience. Some people don't have that.
Alot would love to have a cheaper APM. If they wish to unload them instead of working with it, then why not offer to buy them ?

Permalink Reply by Will Snodgrass on September 12, 2012 at 11:01pm I think theres mayny standpoints (at least) and I can speak to 2 of them personally.
My first APM had a problem that I couldn't fix, and I just wanted to get on flying with a new one (with the one they sold helping to get a new one) rather then keep screwing it (I personally caused the problem btw) So that's 1.
2. Allot of people want to upgrade for whatever reason and Are happy to have the units taken off there hands so they can get a new one.
3. Others love to fly there quads, but could care less about way-points and the complexity and constant updates. they would be happier with a kk board or a naza. something basic.
And then of course the main reason (well one of them) that I started this thread was in direct reaction to one of our latest threads where people were complaining non stop about the APM "conspiracy" and all of that......So I started this thread and posted the link so that rather then complaining about how they would rather have bought another unit, and are now stuck with the APM, can now just sell it so they don't have to complain any more! (and the rest of us can expand their fleet!)
Permalink Reply by Will Snodgrass on September 12, 2012 at 11:06pm ANYONE who has a unit they would like to sell please PM me and we can set something up.
Oh and Juan, I believe the APM 2 uses higher sensitivity sensors, so that may be what you are seeing. What you are seeing *could well be withing the margin of error of the older sensors, but is now within the sensors range.
Permalink Reply by Juan Carlos Hdez on September 13, 2012 at 7:56am I think so. I will try with better motors. I bought new hengli w48-30 from himodel.
Season Two of the Trust Time Trial (T3) Contest has now begun. The fourth round is an accuracy round for multicopters, which requires contestants to fly a cube. The deadline is April 14th.207 members
