There's no TAKE_OFF instant command on the APM. You can do it as part of a mission only ( I assume you are doing this in Flight Plan View, in the unmanned systems widget. (I should remove it from there until its is implemented)
Sounds like it's not supported? Is this part of a mission (which is supported) or are you clicking somewhere in the APM:Planner?
