Hello, i'm a french new user of the arducopter on a GAUI 500X.

Everything is relly fine by default, but i have a question :

Will i lose my parameters ( PIDs or else i modified ) if i upload the last firmware on my APM board ?

Are the parameters loaded "somewhere else" than the firmware ?

Did i have to do again all the configuration : level, radio ?

Thanks ;)

An update of firmware is not supposed to change your parameters, BUT, I always save my current parameters before doing any updates, so I f there is a change I can reload them.

Also, depending on the update, the parameters may be wrong. I just about had it right for 2.6 but 2.7 was completely different and I had to reset the APM to the 2.7 defaults (which are apparently held in the firmware code).

Hope this helps

Thanks. So it's always better to reset parameters in APM planner ...

How do you save parameters ? In APM planner or in CLI mode with the Terminal ?

I only need to save PIDs or rates, not all other functions that i will check with the planner

after updating a new firmware.

I am lucky. The default parameters are very appropriate with my GAUI 500X.

Everything is just really well without tweaking anything.

I just have a very little wobbling on roll and pitch that needs to reduce P i think.

Hello, i found where to save parameters, simply in the "parameters list" panel ...

I tried to update from 2.7 to 2.7.1 and parameters have not changed.

I kept my PIDS and other parameters.

In parameters list you can load/save/write/compare

and so with the compare function it's easy to see what have changed.

Thanks again.

I came here to ask these exact same questions. Thanks for posting the results.

Saved me a lot of time. Thanks!
